First Rough -  Wednesday, Jan. 25th

So here's the first rough. Just a simple outline of the dragon using the pen tool for now *I'll fill in more later,* and a few layered live traces to make the hairdryer.

Update for Monday, Jan. 30th

I've just been working on drawing the details of the dragon with the pen tool over the weekend. Here's what I have so far....

Here is a clearer image of what I've drawn on the dragon so far without the original raster image behind it. This is all done with the pen tool -- no Live Trace used.

                           Update for Wednesday, Feb. 1st

So I added a little bit more to the dragon and slapped the hairdryer on his head *I still need to work on the dryer itself.* I also created a rough layout for the background and other elements of the scene. I plan on making all the elements a little crisper, and I'll have to play around with scale and value to establish a proper hierarchy.

                            Update - Monday, Feb. 6th

I've been working on developing the girl. My main concern was figuring out how I wanted her hair to look. I want to create the sense of it being blown back by the force of the fire and also being damaged by the heat. So here are a few rough hand-drawn sketches...

Here's the start of what she'll look like traced in Ai. Still need to add the details, shading, and adjust the values, of course...

Update for Final Critique - Monday, Feb. 8th

course
Here is my "final" image. As I mentioned during the critique, I am not satisfied with the background and how I solved that. I'm going to play around with it a little more tonight before trying to print it tomorrow.

Update for Final Critique - Monday, Feb. 8th

So I decided to go back to the idea of creating an environment because I really wasn't happy with the above image. I'm still not thrilled with the result, there a disconnection between the style of the background and the style of the girl, but it at least another option to consider...
