First Rough - Wednesday, Jan. 25th

Update for Monday, Jan. 30th
I've just been working on drawing the details of the dragon with the pen tool over the weekend. Here's what I have so far....
Here is a clearer image of what I've drawn on the dragon so far without the original raster image behind it. This is all done with the pen tool -- no Live Trace used.

Update for Wednesday, Feb. 1st
So I added a little bit more to the dragon and slapped the hairdryer on his head *I still need to work on the dryer itself.* I also created a rough layout for the background and other elements of the scene. I plan on making all the elements a little crisper, and I'll have to play around with scale and value to establish a proper hierarchy.

Update for Final Critique - Monday, Feb. 8th
So I decided to go back to the idea of creating an environment because I really wasn't happy with the above image. I'm still not thrilled with the result, there a disconnection between the style of the background and the style of the girl, but it at least another option to consider...
